Actually it all started quite early in my life. When I was a child and one day my parents refused to keep supporting my never-ending-desire for new clothes for my dolls, I was forced to find a different way to get what I wanted. In those days I just stuck pieces of fabric together intending them to be dresses. Working with needle and thread took just too long. This was the start of my passion for handcrafting. Later as I had Barbies I also kept them always fashion wise up to date, except maybe their haircut…..
Well, after a while I wasn’t only concerned about my Barbie’s style but also about my own fashion ability. Of course I wanted to be cool and unique. But again my parents refused to give this - for me very important - issue the appropriate attention. They thought I already was as unique as I could be just the way I was and that there was no need for any fancy outfits. Especially not expensive ones. But: they never had anything against me gaining knowledge and so I attended a sewing course. The ability to use a sewing machine offered me a lot more possibilities as well as inspiration and I started creating my first collection. My understanding of coolness was obviously very different because my mother wondered why I made myself look uglier than I was.
So the story went on and I really liked to see things in a different light and to create new things. I became a real big fan of flea markets because they gave me access to very special and uncommon items. What you find there can be very inspiring. And that’s how I still do it today.
I buy old stuff and make it new.
Now that all my friends and family members received more than enough of my self-made gifts to every opportunity, I decided that I want to share the joy of my creations also with the rest of the world. The Ladyfest in Nuernberg in December 2005 was a big test for my work. And luckily the start went very well.
So, here I am
and make you happy too. Because I am
already happy.
